MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (10/15/16) – Julie Gauguery logged a singles bracket victory as competition continued in the third day of action at the ITA Central Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Minnesota at the Baseline Tennis Center.

Gauguery defeated Oklahoma’s Simran Sethi 6-2, 6-3 in round of 64 in the consolation bracket of the singles’ tournament. She advanced to play Jieke Stroobant of Northern Iowa where the pair battled to a third set tie break. Gauguery won the first 6-3, but Stroobant battled back to take the second set 6-2 and then won the third set tie break 1-0 (10) to knock the A-State senior from the tournament.

In other singles’ action, Allison Quammen lost to Michaela Henne of Creighton 6-2, 6-3 to end her tournament.

A-State finished the regional tournament with three singles, falling one short of highest total in the last five years when the team registered four singles victories in 2014.

In the doubles’ consolation the pairings of Roberts and Quammen and O’Brien and Gauguery each lost their matches to end A-State’s competition in the event.

The Red Wolves compete in their final tournament of the fall season when they travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to compete in the Wofford Invitational Nov. 4-6.
