JONESBORO, Ark. (2/1/17) –  In his third season with the Arkansas State women’s soccer program, head coach Brian Dooley enhanced his 2017 roster with signing of 10 new Red Wolves.

The class features six student-athletes from the state of Missouri including defender Victoria MacIntosh, midfielder Hailey Schue, forwards Sarah Sodoma, and forward/defenders Olivia Smith and Peyton Trester, while goalkeeper Megan McClure also hails from the state. In addition, A-State added two from Oklahoma with the signings of defender Juliana Coates and striker Maggie Ertl. Midfielder Hailey Furio is from the state of Illinois, while New Jersey forward Bailey Gellis rounded out the class for the Red Wolves.

“With our 2017 class, we’ve added competition for every position on the field,” Dooley said.  “This class will certainly make us a deeper, more athletic team. We expect players to work hard and appreciate what it takes to build success. Our current squad embraces this challenge and I am positive our new Red Wolves will as well.

“The forwards bring speed, power and a physical presence to the roster. The midfielders will bring additional technical players with an attacking mentality and the defenders add toughness and a strong ability in the air.  Megan will immediately compete with our already strong goalkeepers. Welcome to the family.”

The 10 signees represent the largest class for the Red Wolves since its first ever class before the start of the inaugural season in 2000. In addition, A-State will have 16 underclassmen as it enters the 2017 season.

“A special thanks to our staff, Shannon Washington, Jordan Adams and Michaela Supple for their hard work in bringing in such a talented class,” Dooley said. “When student-athletes visit our program during the recruiting process, they immediately feel welcome because of the caring and positive environment.  Our strength coach, Cody Stout makes our team better.  I know if a prospect commits after seeing what we do in the weight room, they are for real."
