JONESBORO, Ark. (2/16/17) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team is set to travel to Richton Park, Ill., for the Crusader Classic at Lakewood Bowl hosted by Valparaiso Feb. 17-19.

Second-ranked A-State joins No. 1 Nebraska and No. 10 Sacred Heart as top-10 teams at the event that features a total of 12 teams. Other ranked teams include No. 11 Central Missouri, No. 13 Tulane, No. 14 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 23 Valparaiso and No. 24 Youngstown State. Aurora, Elmhurst, Maryville and Lincoln Memorial complete the tournament field.

Action begins Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. with five sets of five-game Baker matches, followed by five traditional team matches on Saturday morning, beginning at 9:35 a.m. Combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sunday’s best-of-seven Baker format championship bracket, which begins at 8:30 a.m.

A-State (53-23) is coming off a fifth-place showing at the Stephen F. Austin Stormin’ Ladyjack Invitational. A-State went 8-5 in the event, including come-from-behind victories over Vanderbilt and Wisconsin-Whitewater to claim fifth.

The Red Wolves struggled a bit in last season’s Crusader Classic with a sixth-place finish and an 8-5 mark. The sixth-place finish was the team’s lowest last season. However, Haley Richard made the all-tournament squad and last season’s event was played in November before moving to February this season.
