JONESBORO, Ark. (3/16/17) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team is set to travel to Smyrna, Tenn., for its final regular-season tournament of the year March 17-19 at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic.

There is a field of 35 teams scheduled to participate with No. 1 McKendree, No. 4 Sam Houston State, host and fifth-ranked Vanderbilt, No. 6 Fairleigh Dickinson, No. 7 Stephen F. Austin, No. 8 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 9 Delaware State, and No. 10 Central Missouri joining the third-ranked Red Wolves (69-28) as top 10 teams at the event.

Other ranked teams set to compete are No. 11 Sacred Heart, No. 12 Monmouth, No. 13 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 14 Tulane, No. 15 Saint Francis University, No. 16 LIU Brooklyn, No. 17 Adelphi, No. 18 North Carolina A&T, No. 19 Prairie View A&M, No. 20 Franklin Pierce, No. 22 UAB, No. 23 Youngstown State, No. 25 Valparaiso, and No. 25 St. Francis College. The field is rounded out by Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Bethune-Cookman, Elmhurst, Howard, Jackson State, Lincoln Memorial University, Lincoln (Mo.) University, Louisiana Tech, Maryville, Mount Aloysius, and Texas Southern.

The action will get underway Friday with five, five-game Baker matches beginning at 9:40 a.m. Saturday’s competition will feature five traditional team games starting at 9:30 a.m., while the tournament wraps up Sunday with best-of-seven Baker matches starting at 8:30 a.m. InsideBowling.com will live stream this year’s tournament.

A-State won last year’s Music City Classic by defeating McKendree 4-1 in the championship match. The Red Wolves accumulated an 11-4 record in the event and saw Jordan Richard win the MVP award, while Haley Richard made the all-tournament squad.

Arkansas State is coming off an 8-1 weekend and tournament championship at the Big Red Invite in Lincoln, Neb., March 2-4. A-State defeated host Nebraska in the title match 4-3 and Jordan Richard claimed her fourth MVP award and sixth overall all-tournament accolade of the season. Additionally, Haley Richard and Jadee Scott-Jones were also earned all-tournament honors.
