JONESBORO, Ark. (3/24/17) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to UT Arlington Friday at the A-State Tennis Complex in its first Sun Belt Conference match of the season.

UTA swept the three doubles matches and then claimed straight-set victories in the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles matches to secure the victory.  Julie Gauguery carried a four-match winning streak into the contest, but her match was one of three that went unfinished after the Mavericks had already claimed the win.

The Red Wolves saw their record move to 1-13 overall, while the Mavericks improved to 8-6 by winning their second match over their last three contests.  The Red Wolves played their third straight outing at the A-State Tennis Complex and will conclude a four-match home stand Sunday when they host UL Lafayette at 11 a.m.

The Mavericks claimed two 6-2 victories in doubles play and won the third by a 6-0 score.  In singles action, A-State’s Sabina Jeresic fell 6-3, 6-2 against Astrid Gehre, Shannon O’Brien was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Agustina Serio and Allison Quammen suffered a 6-3, 6-1 setback against Lusine Chobanyan.
