JONESBORO, Ark. (3/26/17) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team fell to Louisiana by a 4-0 decision Sunday morning at the A-State Tennis Complex in its second Sun Belt Conference match of the season.

The Ragin’ Cajuns took the doubles point in match’s No. 2 and 3 and then earned the victory with wins in singles matches No. 4, 5 and 6. Julie Gauguery, who stands at 10-2 on the year and had a four match win streak entering the day, did not complete her match after the point had been decided. She along with fellow senior Victoria Pisani competed at home for the final in their collegiate careers and were honored in a ceremony before the match.

The Ragin’ Cajuns claimed a 6-2 and 6-3 victory in doubles play to take the point, while one doubles’ match was unfinished. In singles’ competition, Pisani lost to Abby Johnson 6-2, 6-0, while Tori Roberts lost to India Shiaelis 6-3, 6-1. Allison Quammen fell to Carla Ortega 6-3, 6-2 to round out the scoring on the day.

Arkansas State now has an overall record of 1-14 on the year, while Louisiana improved to 6-8. A-State returns to the courts for their final two conference games of the season when they take on ULM and Texas State in a pair of conference pod matches April 7-8 in Arlington, Texas.
