MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (4/18/17) – The Arkansas State women’s golf team continued play Tuesday at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, shooting a second-round 313 to give the Red Wolves a combined 606 through the three-day tournament’s first two rounds and place it sixth among 10 teams.

A-State completed Monday’s first round with a 293 and entered today in fourth place, but was one of seven teams that saw its second-round score rise as it dropped two places in the standings. The Red Wolves will enter tomorrow’s third-and-final round five strokes behind fifth-place Appalachian State and within 10 of fourth-place Little Rock.

Competing on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail’s Fighting Joe course, Troy currently leads the field with a combined 587, while Georgia State stands second with a 589 and Texas State third with a 590.

All-Sun Belt Conference selection Beth Ann Compton recorded a team-best 76 for the second 18 holes and, along with senior Maci Brooks, leads the Red Wolves in a tie for 14th place. The sophomore carded a first-round 73 and now holds a combined 149 score. Brooks posted a 72 and 77 for the first and second rounds, respectively.

Also competing for the Red Wolves, sophomore Aracelly Jimenez Rios and junior Emma Miller are tied for 28th place as both players shot a combined 154 for the first two rounds. Jimenez Rios’ total includes a 76 and 78, while Miller carded a 72 and 82. Freshman Marisa Marquez is tied for 45th place with a 164 (76-88).
