JONESBORO, Ark. (6/1/17) – The Arkansas State volleyball squad will play 12 regular-season games at the Convocation Center in addition to hosting the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in the upcoming season as the 2017 schedule was unveiled Thursday afternoon.
Season tickets are on sale now with courtside seats available for $100, while general admission tickets cost $50. Single-game tickets will go on sale later in the summer. All-session passes for the SBC Tournament are on sale now with general admission seats costing $30 for adults and $15 for youth. Single-session passes for the event will go on sale at a later date.
A-State opens the season at the Bluegrass Battle being hosted by the University of Kentucky Aug. 25-26. The Red Wolves will open the season with a 10 a.m. match against the Wildcats Aug. 25 before playing Cincinnati later in the day. The team will play its only midweek non-conference match Aug. 29 at Southern Illinois.
The Red Wolves will host a home tournament for the second straight season Sept. 1-2. Arkansas State will play its home opener Friday night against Virginia Tech at 6:30 p.m. A-State will conclude the tournament with Saturday matches versus SMU and Ole Miss.
The team will stay in-state for its next tournament with the UCA Invitational scheduled for Sept. 7-9 in Conway, Ark. A-State will face Central Arkansas, UCF, and Southern in the event. Arkansas State will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a trip to Houston, Texas for the Rice Invitational II Sept. 15-16. The squad will take on Georgetown and Rice on Sept. 15 before finishing the competition with Stephen F. Austin Sept. 16.
A-State will open Sun Belt Conference play at the Convocation Center Sept. 22 against 2016 East Division Champion Coastal Carolina. The Red Wolves will play host to App State the following day before hitting the road for two straight matches against Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM.
The Red Wolves return home for their longest home stand of the season with five games Oct. 6-15. UTA and Texas State will visit first before in-state rival Little Rock comes in Oct. 9. ULM and Louisiana-Lafayette will wrap up the chain of home matches. The Red Wolves travel to Troy (Oct. 20) and South Alabama (Oct. 22) before hosting Georgia State and Georgia Southern Oct. 27-28 in its final home matches of the regular season.
The team hits the road in November with trips to Texas State and UT Arlington Nov. 3-4 before coming back to the state of Arkansas to face Little Rock in the regular-season finale Nov. 10.
The 2017 Sun Belt Conference Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 16-19 at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro. The top eight teams in the league will compete for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
