NEW ORLEANS, La. (8/15/17) – More than 2,100 Sun Belt Conference student-athletes were named to the 2016-17 Commissioner's List and Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league office Tuesday morning with A-State accounting for 172 of the honorees.

The Commissioner's List honors student-athletes who maintained a 3.5 grade point average or better during the 2016-17 academic year while the Academic Honor Roll honors those student-athletes who maintained a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 for the academic year.

A-State had 81 student-athletes earn placement on the Commissioner's List, while another 91 student-athletes achieved Academic Honor Roll recognition.

Conference wide, women's soccer had the most student-athletes named to the Commissioner's List with 152, while women's track & field/cross country and football each saw 141 student-athletes placed on the list. The Academic Honor Roll was led by 251 student-athletes from football with women's track & field/cross country next as 133 student-athletes earned the honor.

A-State posted a school-record 3.070 all-department GPA for the most recent academic year and saw 10 sports earn at least a 3.0 team GPA. The Red Wolves placed a school-record 216 student-athletes on the fall 2016 Athletics Director's Honor Roll as well. The athletics department has also posted its best ever department-wide APR score each of the last two years, according to the latest data.
