JONESBORO, Ark. (8/24/17) – Arkansas State head baseball coach Tommy Raffo announced Thursday that the Red Wolves have added Payton Lannon to the roster for the upcoming 2018 season.

Lannon is a 6’1 left-handed pitcher and spent last season at Northeast Mississippi Community College. As a freshman he competed at Crowder College after prepping at Armorel High School. During his prep years at AHS, he was named All-Conference, All-State, and All-State Tournament with the Tigers along with helping the team to the 2015 Class 1A State Championship.

“We are very excited to add Payton to the Arkansas State baseball program,” Raffo said. “Payton has come on very strong this past summer and improves our pitching staff from the left side.  He is a competitor on the mound and spins the ball very well in and out of the strike zone.”

As a freshman at Crowder, Lannon saw minimal action with 5.1 innings pitched with 5 strikeouts in four appearances. He didn’t allow a run in three of the four outings. He made 21 appearances with Northeast Mississippi and tossed 19 innings with 18 punch outs.

Payton joins his younger brother and true freshman catcher Andrew on the Red Wolves baseball team.
