JONESBORO, Ark. (11/15/17) – Arkansas State head men’s golf coach Mike Hagen has announced that junior college All-America selection Julien Sale and high school standouts Luka Naglic and Connor Wilson have all signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play for the Red Wolves starting in 2018-19.

Currently a sophomore at Indian Hills Community College, Sale is ranked as the No. 1 junior college player in the nation by GolfStat. Naglic joins the Red Wolves as the Slovenia national champion in his age group each of the last five years, while Wilson helped lead Edmond North (Okla.) High School to the Class 6A State Championship as a junior.

“I’m excited to add these three young men to the Arkansas State men’s golf team,” said Hagen, who has led the Red Wolves to a GolfStat No. 64 national ranking this season that is currently the highest among all Sun Belt Conference teams. “This is a very good class that will have the opportunity to make an impact on our program right away. I’m excited about the athleticism Connor brings to the table. As the No. 1 ranked junior college player, Julien brings two years college experience that is very valuable. Luka brings a wealth of worldwide tournament experience."

Originally from Saint-Louis, Reunion Island, Sale earned Honorable Mention All-America honors last year as a freshman while helping lead Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College to a runner-up finish at the NJCAA National Championship. He finished tied for 18th at the tournament, while also earning academic all-region honors.

Currently ranked No. 240 in the GolfStat Cup, which includes all collegiate divisions, Sale holds a 71.20 scoring average for an Indian Hills team that is ranked No. 1 in the latest NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Coaches Association Poll. He has finished among the top seven individuals in the Warriors’ four fall tournaments, including a pair of championships and one runner-up outing.

A three-time winner of the Slovenian International Amateur Junior Championship U18, Naglic is currently No. 424 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). He was the runner-up at the 2016 and 2017 Slovakia Amateur Championship, as well as at the Duke of York Young Championship.

Naglic won the 2014 and 2015 Slovenia Junior Masters, while also collecting top-25 finishes at the European Young Masters (2014 and 2015), Austrian International Amateur Championship (2016) and the German Boys & Girls U18 tournament (2016).

Wilson’s American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournament appearances include an 11th place finish at the Oak Tree (78-69-71). He also has four top-three finishes on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour (OJGT), including a championship outing at the Lincoln Park tournament with an 8-under 134 (66-68).

The Edmond, Okla., native has placed fourth in the Big I Qualifier with a 4-under 136 (67-69), and he has competed in the Red River Challenge twice. Wilson has advanced to the Oklahoma Golf Association (OGA) match play championship semifinals as well.
