• Arkansas State plays three games in a span of five days beginning with a matchup against Howard inside First National Bank Arena Monday at 7:00 p.m. Matt Stolz brings the play-by-play action on the EAB Red Wolves Sports Network and flagship station 107.9 KFIN.
• Monday's game is the second of four for A-State in th Hoosier Tip-Off Classic. A-State visits Indiana (Nov. 22) and South Florida (Nov. 24) to wrap up the event.
• Among players with no starts since the start of last season, Deven Simms ranks second nationally with 448 points scored, an average of 14.0 per game.
Deven Simms has back-to-back 20-point efforts as he matched his career best with 23 points at Eastern Michigan after posting 22 versus Abilene Christian in the home opener.
• Juinor guard Ty Cockfield became the 16th player over the last 40 seasons to score 20 or more points in a season opener. He is just the sixth to achieve such in his A-State debut in the same span.
• The Red Wolves face Howard for the first time, one of four first-time opponents on the 2017-18 schedule.
A-State is 20-17 against first-time opponents dating back to the 1999-2000 season, going 4-1 last season.
• A-State finished the 2016-17 season with 20 regular season wins, tied for the most in program history. Three other A-State teams (1997-98, 1990-91, 1988-89) won 20 regular season games.
Tamas Bruce was the only NCAA Division I player last season to have two double-doubles with at least 15 points and 15 rebounds while playing 25 or fewer minutes in those outings.
