JONESBORO, Ark. (2/1/18) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department recognized a school-record 221 student-athletes appearing on its fall 2017 Athletics Director’s Honor Roll during halftime of its men’s basketball game Thursday night at First National Bank Arena.

Included among the 221 total on the list, 39 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA to help A-State produce an all-department 3.069 GPA last semester. The Red Wolves’ most recent fall GPA came on the heels of its all-department 3.070 GPA for the entire 2016-17 academic year, which also set a school record.

Representing 60 percent of all A-State student-athletes, the 221 AD’s Honor Roll members topped the previous school record of 216 on the fall 2016 list. A student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.0 GPA to be placed on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll.

Eleven A-State teams ended last semester with at least a 3.0 GPA, including all of the women’s programs. The women’s bowling and women’s golf teams placed every student-athlete on the list.

The football team’s 53 players earning the recognition were the most among all programs, followed by women’s track and field with 36. The baseball, men’s track and field, and women’s soccer teams also had at least 21 student-athletes make the AD’s Honor Roll, while every program had at least six student-athletes on the list.

The Arkansas State Athletics Department will hold its annual stAte Awards at the conclusion of the spring semester to celebrate the academic and athletic accomplishments of its student-athletes.
