LINCOLN, Neb. (3/4/18) – The third-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team placed two players on the All-Tournament team while finishing second at the Big Red Invitational held at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb.

During Sunday’s championship round, A-State (73-29) faced Drury and defeated them 4-1 (190-197, 234-159, 209-163, 203-173,237-160) to stay in first place. In the final round, the squad faced Nebraska, who rolled past them 4-2 (192-212, 217-238, 227-189, 221-267, 209-172, 210-219) to win the tournament.

“We played well enough to win, but still need to find a way as a team to execute in pressure matches,” A-State head women’s bowling coach Justin Kostick said. “We have to find a way to play the lanes and the pins and not worry about the opponent. The opponent doesn’t control our shot quality, we do.”

A-State’s Jordan Richard and Jadee Scott-Jones made the All-Tournament team as Jordan Richard rolled an average of 226.80 per game while Jadee Scott-Jones rolled an average of 219.

Host Nebraska won the tournament with a total pinfall of 12,045 as A-State came in second with a total pinfall of 12,004. McKendree (11,773), Central Missouri (11,034) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (10,754) closed out the top five teams in the tournament.

Arkansas State travels to Smyma, Tenn., March 16-18 to compete in the Music City Classic.
