DADE CITY, Fla. (03/13/18) – The Arkansas State women’s golf team improved from 10th place to finish tied for seventh at the Spring Break Shootout, ending the two-day tournament Tuesday with a 54-hole 928 at the Lake Jovita Country Club.

A-State carded a third-round 308 and finished tied with Oakland University. The Red Wolves also finished ahead of Ball State, Georgia Southern, Central Michigan, Fort Wayne, Ohio, and Lipscomb in the 14-team field.

Arkansas State had one player among the top-25 individual golfers and two more inside the top-30 out of 84 total players. Junior Beth Ann Compton tied for 21st place with a third-round 75 on her way to completing play with a three-round 231. She collected her fifth top-25 finish of the season, and her 75 tied junior Aracelly Jimenez Rios’ second-round total for the lowest single-round score of the tourney by an A-State player.

Jimenez Rios and sophomore Grayson Gladden each tied for 28th after carding a three-round-total 232. Jimenez Rios recorded a third-round 79, while Gladden closed out play with a final-round 76.

Also competing for the Red Wolves, senior Sarah Childers completed play only one stroke behind 28th place with a total of 233 to tie for 34th. Childers posted a third-round 78, while sophomore Marisa Marquez tied for 64th after carding a third-round 81 to give her a three-round 243.

The Arkansas State women’s golf team will return to action Monday, March 26, at the Little Rock/A-State Invitational.
