Carissa Damler
Player Profile:

Carissa Damler was named an assistant coach for the Arkansas State volleyball program on June 12, 2018. She will coach the team's back row and libero, while also playing an integral role in scouting and game planning.

Damler is a native of Brownsburg, Ind., and just recently wrapped up her collegiate playing career at Purdue, where she was a defensive specialist from 2014-17. She saw action in 76 career matches, including all 66 of the Boilermakers’ matches the last two seasons.

She was a member of a Purdue team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three seasons, while this past season’s team claimed a 23-10 record and was ranked in the top 25 of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Poll all 16 weeks of the season.

Damler posted 133 digs in 2017, good for a 1.18 per set average and fifth best on the team, while she also contributed 25 assists, four aces, and a kill. She helped the Purdue defense hold opponents to a .210 hitting percentage. The 2016 campaign for her was solid as well as she picked up 232 digs for a 1.80 per set mark. Additionally, she was successful on 95% of her serve reception chances and dished out 40 assists with 11 aces.

The former Boilermaker was also an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2015 and earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2017.
