A-State entered today’s play with a four-stroke advantage over Jacksonville after posting a first-round 277 Sunday and cut one stroke off that total for the second 18 holes. While host-school Iowa moved up to second place by shooting a 283, A-State still extended its lead over the rest of the field by posting a score seven strokes lower than the Hawkeyes.

Although freshman Luka Naglic carded a second-round 66 for the lowest score of the day among all 84 competing golfers, it is the Red Wolves’ Julien Sale that sits atop the individual leaderboard thanks to a 136 combined total that includes a 69 and 67 for the first and second rounds, respectively. The junior currently holds a three stroke lead over three players tied for second place, including his teammate Joel Wendin.

Wendin, a senior, holds a 139 total score after opening play with a 68 and following today with a 71. Recording a 74 yesterday to go along with his 66 today, Naglic is only one stroke behind and sits in a tie for fifth place.
