COLUMBIA, Mo. (10/3/18) – The Arkansas State women’s golf team completed play Wednesday at the 11th annual Johnie Imes Invitational, finishing the three-day tournament with a combined 911 that placed it tied for 10th among 13 teams.
The Red Wolves shot a final-round 309 at The Club at Old Hawthorne after posting a 300 and 302 for the first and second rounds, respectively. The squad ended the tourney tied with Bradley, ahead of UMKC and Little Rock and within two strokes of ninth-place Illinois State.
Missouri won its home tournament for the fifth consecutive year with an 853, while Fresno State finished runner-up and Florida Gulf Coast third with an 876.
Arkansas State was led by Beth Ann Compton, who finished tied for 26th place with a 224 total that marked her best three-round score of the season. Her combined score included a season-low 73 for the opening 18 holes, a 75 for the second round and a 76 today.
Junior Grayson Gladden and senior Aracelly Jimenez Rios both tied for 47th place with a combined 231. Also competing for the Red Wolves, freshman Madison Smith finished tied for 60th place after recording a 236 total, while fellow freshman Olivia Schmidt completed play with a 77 for each of the last two rounds.
Arkansas State returns to action Oct. 28-30 at the Little Rock Golf Classic.
