IOWA CITY, Ia. (10/13/18) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the 2018 ITA Central Regional Championship hosted by the University of Iowa on Sunday to finish the tournament with three impressive victories over higher resource conference schools.
The Red Wolves competed in three matches on Sunday with Shelby King dropping a 4-6, 7-5, 10-2 contest to Southeast Missouri’s Kseniya Zonova. Shannon O'Brien lost to Minnesota’s Kalyssa Hall 6-2, 7-6, while Amelia Guevremont lost Iowa’s Danielle Bauers 6-2, 6-3.
“This was a very good week of competition for us,” A-State head coach Kel Lange said. “We played some of the very best competition that our region has to offer and matched up very well with them. Not only did we play well, but we were also able to get three wins against players from Oklahoma, Iowa and Wichita State and we will continue to build off those performances.”
A-State will finish out its fall schedule with a trip to Spartanburg, S.C. Nov. 2-4 to compete in the Wofford Invite.
