JONESBORO, Ark. (11/26/18) – Arkansas State senior Justin McInnis has been named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after helping the Red Wolves close out the regular season in a 33-7 win over Texas State.

McInnis helped swing the momentum into A-State’s favor in the second half when he recorded a punt block and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown to give the Red Wolves a two-possession lead during the third quarter. The play marked A-State’s first blocked punt return for a touchdown since its 2016 victory over UCF in the Cure Bowl.

McInnis came off the edge to block the punt and then scooped it up and returned it to the end zone to give A-State a 21-7 lead with 8:47 left in the third quarter. The Pierrefonds, Quebec, native also finished the contest with four receptions for 42 yards.

The Red Wolves are bowl eligible for an eighth consecutive season (2011-18) and the ninth time over the last 13 years. The will wait to find out their destination and opponent later in the week.
