JONESBORO, Ark. (12/18/18) – Arkansas State senior defensive end Ronheen Bingham has been named a Fourth-Team All-American by Phil Steele the publication announced Tuesday.

Bingham, who was named the Sun Belt’s Defensive Player of the Year earlier this month, leads the league in both sacks (9.0) and tackles for loss (18.5) and is ranked 27th in tackles at 5.4 per game. Entering the bowl season he is responsible for the 11th most tackles for loss and the 21st most sacks in the nation, while also ranking ninth among all defensive linemen in tackles.

The Bennettsville, S.C., native is a two-time All-Sun Belt selection and was also named as a South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) Blanchard-Rogers Award semifinalist in 2018 and has also been placed on the Senior Bowl Watch List.

Bingham enters the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl against Nevada on Dec. 29, needing just one sack to give 10 for the season, which would tie for ninth most in a single season in school history. In addition, he has recorded double-digit tackle totals in two games this season, including a career-high 13 at Louisiana.

Bingham is the first A-State player since 2013 to be named to an All-American team. J.D. McKissic and Qushuan Lee were each named Sports Illustrated, Honorable Mention All-Americans, that season. Ja’Von Rolland-Jones was named to the Football Writers Association of America All-Freshman All-American team in 2014.

Arkansas State will take on Nevada in the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl Saturday, Dec. 29 on the CBS Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 12:15 p.m. (CT) and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase all tickets to the Arizona Bowl through Arkansas State Athletics.

Purchasing tickets directly through A-State provides many benefits, including sitting with other A-State fans, providing direct revenue back to the university athletics programs, making A-State attractive to future bowl organizations and more.

Tickets are currently on sale online at AStateRedWolves.com/BowlCentral and through the First National Bank Arena ticket office in person or by phone (870-972-2781).
