JONESBORO, Ark. (3/27/19) – Junior Emma Nwofor of the Arkansas State track and field squad was recognized as the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Nwofor clocked a time of 13.55 seconds to win the 100-meter hurdles at Mississippi State's Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays. The time ranks as the third-fastest in program history, atop the Sun Belt Conference performance list, ninth in the NCAA West Region and 19th nationally. Nwofor also competed in the javelin throw finishing 10th with a distance of 37.82m (124-1), the ninth-best throw in program history and 10th-best throw in the Sun Belt to date.

A-State has Nwofor, pole vaulter Michael Carr and sprinter Caitland Smith scheduled to compete at the Texas Relays this week while most of the Red Wolves will compete at the Ole Miss Invitational.
