JONESBORO, Ark. (4/23/19) – Arkansas State women’s basketball head coach Matt Daniel announced Tuesday that Jonesboro native Alexis Sharp will be the Red Wolves Director of Operations.
“Lex has made a name for herself with her work ethic, both as a player and a coach,” said Daniel. “She understands the attention to detail we need to make this program run to match our vision and will be great running day-to-day operations. We are glad to have her back in Jonesboro.”
Sharp returns to her hometown after three seasons as an assistant coach at Ouachita Baptist University. During her time with Tigers, she was responsible for recruiting, equipment and travel operations, film exchange, scouting reports, academic progress and the strength and conditioning implementation. She helped the Tigers to two conference tournament appearances out of three seasons after the squad had missed postseason play in the two prior years. She also coached three Great American Conference All-Conference players and the league’s Elite Scholar Athlete.
“I’m excited to be back in Jonesboro,” said Sharp. “Coach Daniel is well respected in this community and in the basketball community itself and I’m thankful for the opportunity to learn alongside him and his staff. I look forward to seeing what the season will bring.”
The Nettleton graduate played all 109 games over four seasons at Ouachita Baptist. She averaged 2.5 points in 28 games her senior season. She finished her career with 304 points scored.
Sharp earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology while minoring in Business Administration from Ouachita Baptist University in 2016.
Sharp joins Associate Head Coach Caronica Randle and Assistant Coach Aaron Holland on Daniel’s staff.
