JONESBORO, Ark. (4/27/19) – The Arkansas State track and field teams wrapped up competition ahead of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships with 10 individual event titles and 21 top-five finishes at the Memphis Invitational this weekend.  

Emma Nwofor had the top finish in the 100-meter hurdles clocking a 13.53 time, third-fastest in program history. Nwofor placed second in the long jump with a measurement of 6.12m (20-1), the fourth-best mark in program history. Nwofor added a second place finish in the high jump with a clearance of 1.75m (5-8.75), tied for the seventh-best clearance in program history. Grace Flowers won the shot put with a throw of 15.23m (49-11.75), the third-best throw in program history. Babette Vandeput took the discus throw with a measurement of 50.02m (164-1).

Anaelle Charles claimed the top finish in both the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs. Charles clocked the top time in the 800-meters at 2:13.57 while winning the 1500-meters with a time of 4:31.68. Sophie Leathers won the 5000-meter run finishing with a time of 18:31.92. Sammy Brainard raced to a time of 11:19.95 to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Amari James posted the top time of 14.30 seconds to win the 110-meter hurdles and Michael Carr (5.23m/17-1.75) won the pole vault for two men’s event titles for A-State. Nada Buntic made it a clean sweep for the Red Wolves in the pole vault as she took home the top finish at 3.53m (11-7).

A-State finished with 21 top five finishes on the weekend. Those also earning top-five finishes were; Osereme Erewele in 100m dash (2nd – 11.72), Matthew Keown in pole vault (3rd – 4.78m/15-8.25), Sophia Oury in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (3rd – 11:39.79), Tiaan Steenkamp in high jump (2nd – 2.06m/6-9), Eron Carter in shot put (3rd – 51.02m/167-5), Sarah Michael in pole vault (3rd – 3.38m/11-1), Stuart Nickell in 5000m run (3rd – 16:17.48), Courtney Thomas in long jump (3rd – 7.53m/24-8.50), Seth Waters in 1500m run (3rd -  3:53.49), Eric Williams in shot put (16.19m/53-1.50), Heinrich Herbst in 800m run (4th – 1:54.01), Ethan Mychajlonka in 3000m steeplechase (4th – 9:58.76), Bennett Pascoe in 1500m run (4th – 3:54.22), Andrea Perez in 800m run (4th – 2:19.45), Courtney Thomas in triple jump (13.84m/45-5), Pauline Meyer in 800m run (5th – 2:20.47) and Kerra Williams in 400m hurdles (5th – 1:06.28).
