NEW ORLEANS, La. (9/26/19) – Over 2,000 Sun Belt Conference student-athletes were named to the 2018-19 Commissioner’s List and Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league office Thursday morning with Arkansas State accounting for 187 of the honorees - the third-most in the conference.

The Commissioner’s List honors student-athletes who maintained a 3.5 grade point average or better during the 2018-19 academic year while the Academic Honor Roll honors those student-athletes who maintained a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 for the academic year.

A-State had 98 student-athletes earn placement on the Commissioner’s List, while another 89 student-athletes achieved Academic Honor Roll recognition.

Conference-wide, women’s track and field/cross country had the most student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s List with 160, while women’s soccer saw 154 selections. The Academic Honor Roll was led by 215 student-athletes from football with baseball next with 142.

On Wednesday, the league announced their Team GPA winners for the 2018-19 season, with Blake Anderson’s Red Wolves earning the top mark among football teams with a 2.86 GPA.

A-State posted a school-record 3.101 all-department GPA for the 2018-19 academic year and placed a school-record 232 student-athletes on the fall 2018 Athletics Director's Honor Roll. For the third consecutive year, the athletics department also increased its graduation success rate (GSR) to a school-record 85 percent according to 2018 data. The Red Wolves continued to increase their Academic Progress Rate (APR) as well with the most recent data reflecting a school-record 979 score.
