HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. (10/28/19) – With a second-round total of 289 (+1), the Arkansas State women’s golf team climbed eight spots to sixth among 17 teams at the Little Rock Golf Classic at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
After shooting a combined 302 (+14) in the first round, the Red Wolves improved by 13 strokes in the second round to stand one stroke shy of fifth place Jacksonville State (+14) and five strokes behind fourth place California Baptist (+10). Western Kentucky leads with a combined 577 (+1) with Bradley (+6) and UTEP (+9) rounding out the top three.
Sophomore Olivia Schmidt leads the contigent of A-State players as she is tied for ninth with a 36-hole total of 144 (E). Schmidt opened with a 2-over 74 but shot a 2-under 70 on Monday. Sophomore Madison Smith is tied for 19th with a total of 148 (+4) while senior Grayson Gladden is tied for 30th at 149 (+5). Sophomore Kiley Rodrigues (T38th | +6) and junior Maria Jose Atristain Vega (T70th | +11) round out the team scoring for A-State. Freshman Elise Schultz (T60th | +9) and freshman Kayla Burke (89th | +19) are competing as individuals
