LAFAYETTE, La. (5/21/18) – The game time for Tuesday’s matchup between Arkansas State and UT Arlington in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament has been moved up two hours to 4:30 p.m. in an effort to beat inclement weather in the Lafayette, La., area the league office announced Monday.
The single-elimination contest between No. 9 Arkansas State and No. 8 UT Arlington had been slated for a first pitch of 6:30 p.m. after the conclusion of Tuesday’s first game between No. 7 Little Rock and No. 10 Georgia State. However, the decision was made to move both games up two hours with the Trojans and Panthers set to play at 1 p.m., while the Red Wolves and Mavericks will play at 4:30 p.m.
The winner of the game between A-State and UTA will advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament to face either Coastal Carolina or Louisiana-Lafayette, depending on the result between Little Rock and Georgia State.
All games of the tournament will be available on ESPN+ and the WatchESPN app.
This is Arkansas State’s ninth straight appearance in the conference tournament and the Red Wolves are the only team in the league to win at least two games in each of those appearances. A-State was 4-14 after 18 league games, but finished 7-5 down the stretch to get to 11-19 in league play and claim the ninth seed. The team sports an overall record of 20-31.
