NSMA members provided the nominations for each state’s Sportscaster of the Year Award, which will be presented to the winners at the 60th annual NSMA Awards weekend on June 24, 2019, in Winston-Salem, N.C.  NSMA members will vote on the final state of Arkansas ballot that includes Stolz during the month of December, and winners will be announced January 14.

Also known as The Voice of the Red Wolves, Stolz is in his 14th year handling play-by-play duties for A-State football, men’s basketball and baseball games, and he has called some of the most memorable games in school history.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the premier radio play-by-play broadcasters in the country, and I would rate Matt right at the top with them all,” said A-State Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir.  “We’re very grateful that we can call him ‘The Voice of the Red Wolves,’ and we sincerely appreciate his strong passion for our program.”

Stolz also hosts Arkansas State’s weekly coaches shows for football, men’s basketball and baseball and serves as master of ceremonies for many of the A-State Athletics Department’s biggest events, including its annual Hall of Honor banquet and State Awards ceremony that honors the achievements by Red Wolves’ student-athletes.

The Burleson, Texas, native earned his bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television, Film from the University of North Texas in 2000 and has over 21 years of experience in a play-by-play role.  During his time with East Arkansas Broadcasters (EAB), Stolz also hosted a popular morning radio show from 2009-13 and has been heavily involved in the Jonesboro community.
