• Arkansas State continues a grueling stretch of five of the first seven games on the road as the Red Wolves visit Eastern Michigan on Thursday. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT) in a game aired on ESPN3. Matt Stolz brings the play-by-play action on the EAB Red Wolves Sports Network and flagship station 107.9 KFIN. 
• Thursday's game is the first of four for A-State in th Hoosier Tip-Off Classic. A-State also faces Howard (Nov. 20) and visits Indiana (Nov. 22) and South Florida (Nov. 24).
• Among players with no starts since the start of last season, Deven Simms ranks second nationally with 424 points scored, an average of 13.7 per game.
• With 22 points Monday, Deven Simms posted his fourth career 20-point outing.
• Juinor guard Ty Cockfield became the 16th player over the last 40 seasons to score 20 or more points in a season opener. He is just the sixth to achieve such in his A-State debut in the same span.
True freshman Marquis Eaton posted nine points in his debut, the most by an A-State true freshman in his debut since Brandon Peterson (13), Brandon Reed (12) and Adam Sterrenberg (11) reached double figures in the 2009-10 season opener versus MacMurray College.
• A-State finished the 2016-17 season with 20 regular season wins, tied for the most in program history. Three other A-State teams (1997-98, 1990-91, 1988-89) won 20 regular season games.
Tamas Bruce was the only NCAA Division I player last season to have two double-doubles with at least 15 points and 15 rebounds while playing 25 or fewer minutes in those outings.
