DALLAS, Texas (2/17/19) – The Arkansas State women's bowling concluded the 2019 Stormin' Ladyjack Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin with a sixth-place finish after the final day of competition on Sunday.
The Red Wolves began the final of competition by defeating Wisconsin-Whitewater 4-1 in the best-of-seven bracket format. A-State jumped out to a 179-170 advantage after the first game, and then went up 2-0 in the match with a 192-159 win in the second game. Wisconsin Whitewater battled back to take game three 170-162, but A-State rallied for a narrow 154-153 in game four and then clinched the match with a decisive 188-165 win in game five.
With the victory, Arkansas State advanced to take on host Stephen F. Austin in the final round of competition. The Red Wolves fell behind after tough 207-204 setback in the first game, but bounced back to even the match at 1-1 with a 175-167 score in game two. However, it would be all Ladyjacks from that point as the host team won the next three games 185-181, 199-182 and 212-210 to edge A-State who finished in sixth place overall.
Individually. Denisyha Waller finished in sixth-place with a total pinfall count of 1,228 for 204.67 finish. Leah Glazer also finished in the top-10 with a tournament total of 1,218 for a three-day average of 203.00.
Arkansas State will return to the lanes March 1-3 at the Big Red Invite hosted by the University of Nebraska.
