JONESBORO, Ark. (11/2/17) – The third-ranked Red Wolves bowling squad is scheduled to travel to the Track Kat Klash, being hosted by Sam Houston State University Nov. 3-5 at Emerald Lanes in Houston, Texas.
Competition begins Friday morning at 9:55 a.m. with five sets of five-game Baker matches, followed by five traditional team matches on Saturday morning, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play championship tournament, in which each team will play three rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches, beginning at 8:20 a.m.
A total of 21 teams will compete this weekend in Houston, including 14 ranked teams and two others receiving votes in the National Tenpin Coaches Association 2017-18 Preseason Poll. The top seven teams in the nation and eight of the top-10 teams in the preseason poll will bowl at the event.
The list of teams joining the Red Wolves this weekend includes No. 1 McKendree, No. 2 Nebraska, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 6 Stephen F. Austin, No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 10 Central Missouri, No. 12 Delaware State, No. 17 Tulane, No. 18 North Carolina A&T, No. 19 UAB, No. 20 Prairie View A&M, No. 24 Youngstown State, Alabama State (RV), Louisiana Tech (RV), Grambling State, Jackson State, Maryville, Southern, and Texas Southern.
Last week, A-State finished fifth at the Brunswick Bearcat Open, as they went 3-0 on the final day of the season-opening event in Fairview Heights, Ill. The Red Wolves went 9-4 overall at the competition.
Arkansas State traveled to Houston, Texas for the event last season and finished third after defeating Vanderbilt in the third-place match. The Red Wolves won the Track Kat Klash in 2013.
A-State caps off their fall campaign with a trip to Kenosha, Wis., to compete in the Warhawk Classic Nov. 10-12.
