HOUSTON, Texas (11/3/17) – The third-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling squad went 4-1 on the opening day of competition at the Track Kat Klash, hosted by Sam Houston State at Emerald Lanes in Houston, Texas.
A-State (13-5) opened the day with an 855-792 victory over Jackson State but lost in its second match to No. 12 Delaware State 947-823. They went on to finish strong with a 916-895 win over No. 17 Tulane and then defeated No. 20 Prairie View A&M 903-886. The Red Wolves capped the day off with an impressive 1,052-1,027 victory over No. 1 McKendree, posting their highest pinfall of the day.
Despite the 4-1 start, A-State ranks 11th in total pinfall with 4,549 pins. Nebraska leads with 5,013 total pins, Maryland Eastern Shore is second with 4,932 pins with McKendree coming in third with 4,837 total pins. Central Missouri is fourth with a total of 4,836 pins while Stephen F. Austin closes out the top five with a total of 4,829 pins.
Maryland Eastern Shore, Central Missouri and Sam Houston State all went undefeated during day one of the competition.
Day two rolls off at 9:30 a.m., as the Red Wolves are set to face No. 18 North Carolina A&T in their first of five traditional matches.
