JONESBORO, Ark. (11/9/17) – The Arkansas State women’s basketball program has announced the addition of Nettleton High School standout Jordan Elder to its 2017-18 class for the early signing period.
Elder has averaged 18 points, five assists and four rebounds per game during her prep career and is a three-time Arkansas Activities Association All-State selection. She was named an Arkansas Basketball Coaches Association Top-5 Player in Class 5A after her junior season and is a three-time Best Under The Sun selection, including earning the publication’s Newcomer of the Year honor after her freshman season.
“With Jordan it starts with her ability to shoot the ball,” A-State head coach Brian Boyer said. “The entire time she’s on the floor she demands the attention of defenses because of her ability to shoot the ball from deep. But, she’s more than just a shooter, she has the quickness and the athletic ability to fit in with the quickness of the guards in the Sun Belt Conference.”
As a junior she helped Nettleton win the 2016 NEA Tournament and the 2016 McDonald’s Shootout titles as well as helping the Raiders to a 30-2 overall record that included reaching the quarterfinal round of the class 5A state tournament. She was named to the All-Tournament team in all three events, and has a total of three NEA All-Tournament selections as well as two All-State tournament honors.
She reached the 1,000 point plateau during her sophomore season of high school and has scored over 1,500 points in her career. She has amassed over 500 assists and was named as a McDonald’s High School All-American nominee.
