LINCOLN, Neb. (3/2/18) – The third-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team finished atop the standings Friday to conclude day one of the Big Red Invitational being held at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb.

The Red Wolves swept their competition, going 4-0 while posting over 1,000 total pins in each match to end day one in first place. The squad opened up with wins against No. 15 Central Missouri (1,035-988), No. 2 McKendree (1,103-1,011), No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater (1,092-1,065) and No. 25 Valparaiso (1,083-942).

“We had a really good day and we bowled well throughout,” A-State head women’s bowling coach Justin Kostick said. “It wasn’t just that we won, but we posted high scores every match. We need to take the momentum from today into tomorrow.”

A-State (68-27) ended the day with a total pinfall of 4,313 and a 215.7 average. Day two of competition will begin at 8:25 a.m., which will consist of five games of traditional matches.
