COLLEGE STATION, Texas (3/10/18) – Arkansas State senior sprinter Jaylen Bacon earned First Team All-America honors to close the indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday.
Bacon, running in lane eight, battled through a false start for the fourth consecutive outing. After the runners were called back for a second start in the blocks, Bacon raced to a time of 6.62 seconds to rank fifth among the field.
“We are very proud of Jaylen and the season he had,” said A-State head coach Jim Patchell. “This was his second year in a row earning First Team All-America. He was a little disappointed in the result today, but to be among the best in the country is a great accomplishment.”
A-State begins outdoor season March 23-24 at the Mississippi State Relays. The Red Wolves Open is set for April 20-21 and the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships are May 11-13.
