• A new era in Arkansas State men's basketball begins Friday. Led by first-year head coach Mike Balado, the Red Wolves open their 2017-18 season at Evansville with a 7:00 p.m. tip time at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind. Matt Stolz brings the play-by-play action on the EAB Red Wolves Sports Network and flagship station 107.9 KFIN and the game will be streamed online via ESPN3.
• The home opener on Nov. 13 will begin the 31st season for the Red Wolves inside First National Bank Arena. A-State has compiled a 296-116 (.719) record on the home court since the first game back on Dec. 5, 1987 against Memphis.
• A-State is 43-46 all-time in season openers and opens on the road for the eighth time in the last 10 seasons. 
• The Red Wolves are 4-14 in season opening games on the road dating back to the 1962 season. 
• Dating back to the 1991-92 season, 15 of the last 26 season openers have been decided by 10 or fewer points. A-State is 7-8 in those games.
• The previous 15 head coaches for Arkansas State have a combined record of 7-8 in their head coaching debut at A-State. Dating back to 1944, coach Mike Balado becomes the fourth to open his A-State tenure on the road.
• A-State recorded 19 steals in the exhibition game against Harding. Dating back to the 2005-06 season, a span of 348 regular and postseason games, A-State had 15 or more steals in a total of four games.
• A-State finished the 2016-17 season with 20 regular season wins, tied for the most in program history. Three other A-State teams (1997-98, 1990-91, 1988-89) won 20 regular season games.
• The Red Wolves posted 20 total wins for the sixth time in 89 seasons. 
Tamas Bruce was the only NCAA Division I player last season to have two double-doubles with at least 15 points and 15 rebounds while playing 25 or fewer minutes in those outings.
