JONESBORO (3/4/12) - The Arkansas State baseball team completed a three-game sweep of South Dakota State on Sunday afternoon, topping the Jackrabbits 10-1 at Tomlinson Stadium and Kell Field for its fourth consecutive victory.

A-State, which now holds a 7-4 record on the season, has picked up a victory in seven of its last eight games and won its last two series, also taking 3-of-4 games against Evansville last weekend.  The Red Wolves, in the midst of a 10-game home stand, also improved to 7-1 at home this year.  South Dakota dropped to 0-6 on the year with loss.

ASU scored at least 10 runs in every game of the series, defeating the Jackrabbits 15-5 in the series opener on Friday and 12-7 on Saturday as well.  The Red Wolves more than doubled the Jackrabbits' hit total on Sunday and finished the three-game series with 40 hits to the Jackrabbits' 22.

Nine different players were responsible for ASU's 14 hits on Sunday, while the five different pitchers used by the Red Wolves combined to allow just six hits by the Jackrabbits.  Zach George and Logan Uxa both went 3-of-4 to lead ASU at the plate, and Uxa added a game-high three RBI.

ASU jumped out to a 1-0 lead when George doubled to bring home Kaleb Brown in the bottom of the first inning, but the Red Wolves would use a pair of big innings to pull away.

While starting pitcher Bradley Wallace, who picked up the victory on the mound, held SDSU scoreless over his five innings of work, the A-State offense recorded four runs on four hits in the fourth inning to build a 5-0 advantage.  The Jackrabbits scored their only run in the top of the sixth, but ASU responded with five runs on five hits during its next at-bat to set the final score.

The Red Wolves return to action Tuesday, March 6, when they start a two-game midweek series against Evansville at Tomlinson Stadium at 6:30 p.m.
