The A-State tennis team finished the final day of competition with nine victories to give it 14 total for the weekend, the most in any tournament during the 2018 fall season.
“This was a great way to end the fall,” A-State head coach Kel Lange said. “We had a really strong showing in our doubles' play this weekend and won six of the seven matches we played. Our singles' play was strong as well and it is something we can take into the spring.”
Shelby King and Shannon O'Brien paired to the win their flight with a pair of victories on Sunday. In the semifinals, the duo defeated Emory's Daniela Lopez and Emma Cartledge 6-3 and then downed Gardner Webb's Daniela Naupari and Valentine Limauge in the finals 6-0.
Amelia Guevremont and Pornpawee Pramethong also won their flight after downing Brenau's Juana Zambrano and Evelin Gouveia 6-3, followed by a 6-3 victory over Emory's Sasha Hartje and Lauren Yoon in the finals.
Anita Detlava and Berta Masdevall Masip defeated Western Carolina's Jordan Strickland and Savannah Taranto 6-2 in their first matchup of the consolation bracket and then followed with a 6-3 win over Wofford's Cassidy Hicks and Jenna Vroman in the next matchup.
