JONESBORO, Ark. (4/12/12) – Arkansas State head
women’s volleyball coach David Rehr announced that Pittsburg State University
middle blocker Kelsey Sullivan and Uvalde High School senior Hannah McRee have
signed National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at Arkansas State.
Sullivan (6-1) was a two-year player for the Gorillas and
played in 18 matches in 2011. She finished the year with 74 kills, a 1.42 kills
per set average, 34 digs and 21 blocks.
In 2010 she started 15 of PSU’s 32 matches and
averaged 1.60 kills per set and finished fifth on the team with 176 kills. She
also added 57 blocks, which was fourth best on the team.
She attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Kansas
where she led her team to a state championship in her junior season. She was
named to the Kansas All-State Tournament in junior and senior years and spent
seven years playing club volleyball.
“Kelsey
brings collegiate experience to our program,” Rehr said. She will bring much
needed depth to our middle blocker position.”
McRee, a 6-3 middle block and outside hitter, joins
the Red Wolves after a successful career at St. Thomas Aquinas High School she
was an all-district 28-4A team selection.
“Hannah is
a talented volleyball player who can play multiple positions,” Rehr said. “I am
excited to see her compete in a Red Wolves Jersey”
She averaged 4.70 kills per game and finished the 544
kills during her senior season. She had a hitting percentage of .330 and 24
assists and 42 aces. At the net she 104 solo blocks and 24 block assists.
