JONESBORO, Ark. (10/31/11) – Arkansas State
sophomore Megan Baska was named the Sun Belt Conference’s volleyball Defensive
Player of the Week Monday after helping the Red Wolves go undefeated at home
with victories over Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe. This marks the
third time this year Baska has been named the league’s Defensive Player of the
Week and the sixth time in her career.
Baska chalked up 37 digs on the weekend, putting
up 20 against Louisiana-Lafayette Friday and 17 against Louisiana-Monroe Sunday. She finished the weekend with a 4.62
digs per set average and added eight assists. Her overall 4.21 digs per set
average ranks fifth in the conference.
The Red Wolves finished 8-0 at home this season,
marking the first time the squad has gone
undefeated at home since 2004. A-State will finish the regular season with four
straight road games, beginning Nov. 4 with a match at North
Texas followed by a match at Denver Nov. 6.
