JONESBORO,
Ark. (6/18/12) - The Arkansas State men's basketball program hosted its first
camp of the summer 2012 season by hosting local teams in the annual John Brady
Team Basketball Camp this past weekend.
A dozen
area teams and teams from surrounding states participated in the one-day event
at the ASU Red Wolf Center, with three courts going during the camp and each team
playing in at leas three games.
Participating
in the event were Jonesboro High School, Nettleton High School, Brookland High
School, Trumann High School, Little Rock Fair and Pine Bluff High School from
Arkansas. There were also two Memphis teams from Memphis Ridgeway High School
and Bartlett High School. Also participating were Grenada High School from Mississippi
and Hayti High School and Waynesville High School from Missouri.
The Red Wolves
camp season will continue with the Individual Day camp is set for June 25-28 at
the HPESS Building in the ASU Basketball Practice Facility from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. The day includes lunch, a t-shirt and a drill workbook. The Individual Day
camp costs $215 per camper and is for boys entering grades 5-12.
The Little Wolves
Day camp is held from July 16 to 18th at the ASU Basketball Practice
Facility at the HPESS Building from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp costs $125 and
is intended for boys entering grades K-4th. The camp includes a
t-shirt and drill book but will not include lunch.
High School
Skills Elite Camp will be hosted on August 4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the ASU
Convocation Center and is meant for boys entering grades 9-12. Cost for this
camp will be $50.
Each camp will
include proper stretching and warm-up and individual skill instruction for each
camper on dribbling, passing, rebounding and shooting by current ASU coaches
and student-athletes. Camps will also include contests and instruction on team
defense as well as 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. Campers will be grouped according
to age and grade.
