JONESBORO,
Ark. (12/17/12) – The Arkansas State University Athletics Department is taking
an active role in “Project Teddy Bear” to help the survivors of the recent
Connecticut Elementary School tragedy and will be donating those Teddy Bears collected
at this Wednesday’s (Dec. 19) ASU men’s basketball game.
Fans
attending this Wednesday’s game against Murray State at the ASU Convocation
Center in Jonesboro, Ark., are encouraged to bring a new or slightly used Teddy
Bear to the contest, which starts at 7:35 p.m. (CT). The Teddy Bears and stuffed animals will be
tossed on the court at halftime and those collected will go directly to those
Sandy Hook Elementary School students who survived the recent tragic event.
“This
(Teddy Bear Toss) is an annual event for us which helps those children in
need,” said ASU Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions Gleen Hart. “In light of the recent tragedy in
Connecticut, we’re donating all of the Teddy Bears to the survivors to help
ease their suffering and show we deeply care.”
As a
result of their donation, fans will receive a group discount rate of $5 per
individual and one Teddy Bear/stuffed animal per person will be accepted. Those who donate a Teddy Bear will have an
opportunity to win a prize courtesy of ASU.
