MEMPHIS, Tenn. (4/9/12) - The Arkansas State men's golf team completed the first two rounds of competition at the Memphis Intercollegiate on Monday, recording a combined 646 at the Colonial Country Club to finish the tournament's opening day in 12th place.
The Red Wolves posted a 322 for the first round before coming back to record a 324 in the afternoon. Sawyer Radler, who picked up medalist honors at the Red Wolf Intercollegiate last week, and Wessel Zwiegers led ASU as both players shot a 161 to place them tied for 57th.
Along with Cory Williamson, Radler and Zwiegers both turned in a 79 for one of the first two rounds for the lowest score of the day by an ASU player. Williamson is currently tied for 60th place with a combined 162, while Chris Pledger is tied for 62nd with a 163 and Matt Howton is in 67th with a 165.
Kennesaw State shot a combined 593 to lead the 12-team field, while Middle Tennessee is just three strokes back in second place. Host-school Memphis, Vanderbilt and Akron are all tied for third place with a 599.
The tournament's third and final round will be played Tuesday.
