HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (3/27/12) - The Arkansas State women's golf team posted its lowest single-round score of the spring season Tuesday, shooting a 299 at the Diamante Country Club to climb three places in the UALR Women's Golf Classic standings and finish in ninth place with a combined 910.
The Red Wolves' final-round 299 was not only their lowest score this spring, it matched their third best of the entire season just behind their 295 at the Lady Red Wolf Classic and 296 at the ORU Shootout. The Red Wolves ended Monday's competition in 12th place after recording a 305 and 306 for the first and second and rounds, respectively.
A-State was led by sophomore Courtney Manning, who carded a season-best 71 for the final 18 holes to move from tied for 45th place to tied for 22nd. Manning posted her lowest three-round score of the season, a 225 (78-76-71), to collect her fifth top-25 finish of the year.
Also competing for ASU, Jennifer Welch finished tied for 34th place with a 228 (77-75-76) and Anna Carling tied for 37th with a 229 (74-77-78). Jennifer Loiacano posted a 74 on Tuesday for her best round of the tournament, which moved her up 12 places in the standing into a tie for 43rd with a combined 230 (76-80-74).
Sarah Landry also finished tied for 78th place with a 239 (79-78-82) and Clara Tefteller 99th with a 262 (88-90-84). Tefteller was competing as an individual.
ASU returns to action April 16-18 at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, set to be held in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
