WICKLIFFE, Ohio. (4/11/12) – Arkansas State
freshman bowler Sarah Lokker was named the National Ten Pin Coaches Association
Rookie of the Year, while sophomore Amanda Labossiere and junior Rachael
Gittings were named to the NTCA All-America team Wednesday night at the annual
NCAA Tournament Banquet.
Lokker was also named as a NTCA All-America third
team selection, while Labossiere was a second team selection and Gittings was a
first-team selection.
A-State head coach Justin Kostick was named as
the NTCA Division-I Coach of the Year after leading the Red Wolves to their
fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, two tournament wins and an 80-23
regular season record.
“I am proud for Sarah, Rachael and Amanda,”
Kostick said. “They have all worked hard this season and their hard work shows
through the awards that they were presented with tonight.”
Lokker earned all-tournament honors at the
Greater Ozark Invitational, the Big Red Invitational and was named a
CollegeSports 360 Primetime Performer of the Week after 227.6 average and a
second place finish at the Big Red Invitational.
Labossiere earned all-tournament honors at the
Kat Klash, Mid-Winter Classic and Prairie View A&M Invitational, while
Gittings earned all-tournament honors at the Greater Ozark Invitational, where
she was also named MVP, Crusader Classic, Big Red Invitational and the Prairie
View A&M Invitational.
Gittings also earned a spot on the Junior USA
Bowling team after finishing eighth overall and second among all juniors in the
qualifying tournament in Las Vega this past January.
This marked the first time on school history that
the A-State bowling had three players selected to the NTCA All-America team.
