JONESBORO, Ark. (9/20/19) – A new season begins Saturday for the Arkansas State cross country teams, as the Red Wolves are set to travel across the Mississippi River to Memphis for the Rhodes Invitational.
The men’s 8K race begins at 8 a.m., followed by the women’s 6K at 8:45 a.m. and will take place at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis. Live results will be available here as runners begin to cross the finish line.
A total of 21 teams will be represented, including Division I counterparts Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Cincinnati, Memphis and Tulsa.
In the preseason poll released in August, the league’s coaches picked the A-State women to finish third in the conference, with the men’s team predicted to finish eighth. Last season, the Red Wolves finished third as a team in the women’s 5K while the men finished eighth in the 8K.
Pauline Meyer, A-State’s No. 2 finisher at the conference meet a year ago, was listed as one of the league’s Top 7 Women’s Runners to Watch after earning an eighth-place finish.
On the men’s side, A-State returns all seven runners from the conference championships, while the women return four of their seven competitors.
