JONESBORO, Ark. (10/23/17) – Arkansas State outside hitter Carlisa May was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week via an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

A native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., May had a fantastic weekend for the team as the Red Wolves defeated Troy Oct. 20 and followed by handing South Alabama its first conference loss of the season Oct. 22. May recorded an outstanding 43 kills over the two matches for a 6.14 per set average on a .287 hitting percentage.

The junior tallied 24 kills (8.00 per set) in the 3-0 win over the Trojans Friday on a .364 attacking percentage before adding 19 more in the 3-1 triumph against South Alabama. She leads the team with 351 kills on the year (4.03 per set) and now has 1,161 kills in her career, which ranks as the 10th most in school history.

This accolade is the third SBC Offensive Player of the Week award of the season for May. It is her 13th career weekly award and sixth OPOW honor of her career.

Arkansas State returns to action Friday, Oct. 27 with a home matchup versus Georgia State. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. at First National Bank Arena.
