JONESBORO (1/8/10) - The Arkansas State football team will play Navy for the first time in its history next season, announcing Friday the Midshipmen have been added to its 2010 schedule to give the Red Wolves a game against one of the three service academies for the third time since 2005.
The Red Wolves will face the Midshipmen in Annapolis, Md. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Nov. 20, setting up ASU's first game against one of the service academies since defeating Army 14-6 at ASU Stadium in its 2006 season opener. The Red Wolves dropped a 38-10 decision at Army in 2005 in their only other game ever played against Army, Navy or Air Force.
"We are excited about the addition of Navy to our 2010 football schedule," said ASU Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee. "This game will give our football team another opportunity to face a quality program with a storied past and wonderful tradition, and we also feel that Navy gives us another attractive opponent with national recognition for our fans."
