FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (10/28/17) – The third-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team went 2-3 and is in eighth place after two days of competition at the Brunswick Bearcat Open being held at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, Ill.
The Red Wolves (6-4) opened the day with a 921-740 win over Aurora University with Jadee Scott-Jones leading the team with a 230. A-State followed with a 1,020-909 victory versus No. 13 Monmouth that saw Taylor Davis lead the squad with a 221, while Haley Richard chipped in with a 211.
Arkansas State’s momentum was halted with a 916-907 setback to No. 20 Prairie View A&M and the team followed with a 1,010-967 loss to No. 6 Stephen F. Austin despite a 246 score by Richard. The Red Wolves concluded the day with a 1,028-928 loss to host and No. 1 McKendree.
A-State finished the day with a total pinfall of 9,483 behind Central Missouri’s 9,523. McKendree tops the field with a total pinfall of 10,266 and is the only team with a 10-0 record. Nebraska is second with a pinfall of 10,065, while SFA is third with 9,756 total pins.
Richard was the top individual finisher for the team with a total pinfall of 1,050 (210 average) to place eighth. McKendree’s Sara Willie led the field with 1,119 total pins for a 223.80 per game average.
Arkansas State plays Central Missouri to begin the best-of-seven Baker bracket play Sunday morning. Tomorrow’s action will get underway at 8:30 a.m.
