JONESBORO, Ark. (2/7/18) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team remained ranked third in the February edition of the National Tenpin Coaches Association poll released by the NTCA Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Wolves earned 1,427 points in the poll to finish behind No. 1 Nebraska (1,588) and No. 2 McKendree (1,565). The Cornhuskers picked up 26 first-place votes, while the Bearcats received the other 17. Vanderbilt (1,341) and Sam Houston State (1,259) rounded out the top five as the top 10 in the poll were unchanged from January’s edition. Duquesne, Norfolk State, and Valparaiso were the new squads to enter the top 25 this month.

This voting didn’t take into account A-State’s second-place finish at the Prairie View A&M Invitational last weekend as the Red Wolves now sport a record of 55-23. The team has been ranked third in all three NTCA polls this season, including the preseason poll.

Additionally, senior Haley Richard was named an honorable mention for the Southland Bowling League’s Bowler of the Month award. Stephanie Zavala of Sam Houston State won the award. A native of Tecumseh, Mich., Richard had the team’s highest individual finish in January when she just missed All-Tournament honors at the Mid-Winter Invitational with a sixth-place showing.

A-State returns to action Feb. 16-18 at the SFA Ladyjack Invitational in Houston, Texas.
